Who We Are - Antrim Conservation District

 Melissa is a lifelong friend of the environment. Her first memory of caring about the planet as a child is taking her little red wagon door to door to collect newspapers from her neighbors to recycle for them. Since then, Melissa remains a die-hard recycler and environmentalist and her career has led her to work with a diverse range of people and organizations.

Her long-term experience includes working for state, tribal, county, and local governmental units, for large and small media companies, and for private and non-profit businesses. She holds multiple educational degrees and certifications and is an active volunteer serving on various local and regional boards as an officer or director. Melissa is honored to serve as the state of Michigan's appointee to the Antrim County Health & Human Services Board where she serves as vice chairperson.

She is a member of important environmental organizations including the North American Association for Environmental Education, Michigan Alliance for Environmental and Outdoor Educations, Michigan Beekeepers Association, Michigan Wildflowers Association, Michigan Farm Market Association, Michigan Recycling Association, and the Michigan Press Association to name a few.

Melissa has one great son, two fun beagles, takes care of her dad, and in her free time likes to hike, read, and create art. Winter time might find her on her touring snowmobile and spring and summer will find her in her flower garden or canoe. She is an avid learner. Education is a key component in her life and her mantra of "never stop learning" carries over into the Antrim Conservation District where she supports staff optimum growth and development to ensure the best care for Antrim County's natural resources.
